Choosing or recommending a restaurant is a very personal matter. As the old saying goes “One man’s meat is another man’s poison”. Bear in mind that there are half a dozen other restaurants in the general Burtonport/Dungloe area, which another person might have chosen or recommended.

Danny Minnies

Danny Minnies, officially known as Teach Killindaragh, is situated on the left hand side of the road as you go into Annagry, about six miles from the cottages. Ideal for a special occasion when you are looking for nothing but the best. Friendly atmosphere, open log fire, excellent food, wonderful presentation. Full licence. Bayview Bar

The Bayview Bar is located close to the Garda Barracks on Main Street in Dungloe, about six miles from the cottages. It has recently been completely renovated and offers excellent cuisine at reasonable rates, in very pleasant surroundings. Full licence. Lunches served during the day in addition to evening meals. Lobster Pot

Situated on the left side of the road as you go into the fishing village of Burtonport, about five miles from the cottages. Sometimes known as Kellys. Atmospheric pub with fishing motif. Meals served in the pub area or in separate restaurant. As the name suggests it specialises in seafood, including whole lobster. For full evening meal, advance booking is recommended, particularly in high season. Tel. 074 9542012

The Skippers Inn

The Skippers Inn is also situated in Burtonport, at the entrance to the village, on the left hand side before you come to the Lobster Pot. Like the Lobster Pot it specialises in seafood but also offers a wide menu to cater for all tastes. Prices are reasonable and helpings have a reputation for being large and generous. The children’s menu is especially worthy of note in that it is often a smaller version of the adult menu rather than the more typical "chicken nugget" approach. Full licence. Telephone 074 9542234.

Dohertys Restaurant

Situated on the right hand side of the main street in Dungloe, about six miles from the cottages, Dohertys will appeal in particular to families with children, as it is reasonably priced, with fast service, and offers set lunches from noon till 3 pm. Outside of those hours a la carte served speedily and efficiently. Also offers a take-away service. No need to book.

Leo’s Tavern

Birth home to Enya and Clannad, Leo’s Tavern is situated on the left hand side of the road just before you reach Crolly, about 12 miles from the cottages. Ideal for those who would like to combine an evening meal with live music later on. Newly extended, this restaurant/pub offers excellent wholesome food at reasonable rates.
