Shopping at Donegal Thatched Cottages

When coming to Donegal Thatched Cottages it is not necessary to bring food/provisions from your home base. You will find at least one general grocery store in Dungloe which stays open till 10 pm every night of the week and which will meet all your needs. Other larger centres in Dungloe are Super Valu on the Glenties Road and The Cope on Main Street. For more local grocery shopping the shop/post office at the entrance to Cruit Island opens Mon/Fri 9am to 6pm. Pat The Butcher in Dungloe offers friendly service and very good meat, while Charlie Bonner, also in Dungloe will supply all your fishing tackle needs. There is a very good craft shop in Derrybeg about 14 miles north of the cottages and another very good one at the Dunlewy Lakeside Centre. The town of Ardara, about 20 miles south of the cottages offers a choice of craft shops including a range of hand woven tweeds from the John Malloy factory. Also famous for its tweeds is Magees of Donegal Town, about 40 miles south of the cottages.
